Once football season begins, this post will probably shift to Sunday afternoons, to cover reports and stories of the football games.
Baylor Soccer won their season opener Friday night at Rice, 1-0 on a headed goal by Junior Alex Klein. The Bears play their home opener this Sunday at 1:00 PM against Northwestern State. Baylor Soccer promises to be very exciting this season, so if you're in town, go support your Bears!
Lady Bears' incoming freshman Alexis Prince scored a game-high 19 points in a 87-36 USA U18 win over Colombia in the last round of FIBA Americas Championship preliminary play. This win both advances the USA as the top seed out of their group and earns them a place in the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women, hosted by Lithuania next summer.
Baylor Football held an hour-long scrimmage yesterday in preparation for the nationally televised season opener September 2nd against SMU. Coach Art Briles is "anxious and excited to see the defensive side of the ball this year," as I'm sure we all are. Also, from late last night, Baylor has announced the acceptance of Jason Osei, a transfer offensive lineman from the UK. If you haven't read this, please do. He has a very interesting story.
Here's a very good story from Ivan Maisel about what Baylor Football faces going forward, and though it was linked in the comments yesterday, I felt it deserved to be linked again.
Finally, last night was the Welcome-To-Baylor pep rally, which sadly I was not able to attend. According to tweets and Facebook, however, this was the most excited freshman class yet, which bodes well for a great gameday atmosphere.
Wow!!! Baylor Fr class LARGEST in school 's history and LOUDEST I have heard at tonight'sFr PEP rally!
