S Alfred Pullom is Commit #16 for Baylor's 2013 Class

Commits are coming fast and furious these days as Baylor now has more in July of 2012 for the 2013 class than it did on January 1, 2012 for the class that would sign one month later. Alfred Pullom, a safety from Cypress Woods HS in Cypress, Texas, decided on Friday that he had seen enough; he called Phil Bennett and gave his verbal commitment to the Baylor Bears. Let's take a look at the vitals:

According to a recent article from the Rivals network, Pullom is actually a two-sport star at Cypress Woods in baseball and football, but his future likely lies on the gridiron. For having relatively low rankings (so far) from most of the recruiting services, Pullom has an impressive offer list with Arkansas and Texas Tech standing out in addition to obviously Baylor. It was reported as soon as this past week that Pullom was leaning heavily toward committing to the Bears, and he was apparently impressed enough at Friday's camp in Waco to pull the trigger.

Pullom's commitment gives Baylor 3 recruits in the defensive backfield (or 4, depending on how you view our nickelback position currently occupied by Ahmad Dixon where Travon Blanchard is committed to play), with two being safeties. Were I to guess, I would call it likely based on what has been bandied about that Taion Sells-Warner joins Austin Jupe as the CBs in this class. Of our 16 commits so far, 10 are slated for the defensive side of the ball, so I have to believe spots could be getting a little sparse over there.

Click on the link above for the highlights of Pullom's junior season (2011). Size (he's listed at 6-1) and speed (4.67 in the 40) seem to be his biggest strengths, and he has a knack for finding the football. He had 3 reported interceptions in his junior year, which is pretty good from the safety spot. Check it out and tell me what you think!

UPDATE: Wouldn't you know it, I missed commit #17 while I was out today. Look for that post in a little while.
