A quick pass over the recruiting sites this evening led me to a rather astonishing, though welcome, discovery: Fort Worth Southwest WR Robbie Rhodes, a Baylor commit, has been bumped up to #18 in the Top247, which I'm sure needs no explanation, a 98 overall grade, and 5* status by 247Sports. He is also now the #1-ranked WR in the country, leapfrogging former Texas commit Ricky Seals-Jones, among others. If he retains this lofty ranking, he will be the second 5* recruit signed by Art Briles (according to 247) in the last two years, following in the footsteps of DE Javonte Magee in the 2012 class. The other recruiting sites like Rivals and Scout have not yet bought into the Robbie Rhodes magic, but I suspect they will with time. He's going to have a huge senior year for Southwest in 2012.

Rhodes ended his recruitment in early June after receiving an offer from Texas and naming them one of two finalists. Though many suspected that a visit to Texas's campus in May for the Texas Relays (a high school track event that is not affiliated with the university) would sway him to the Longhorns, Baylor won out in the end for the extremely talented WR and he became the 10th commitment of our 2013 class.

UPDATE: According to the 247Sports twitter account, they just updated these rankings tonight.
