Waco Regional Game 1: Baylor vs. Oral Roberts

I feel almost creepy constantly extolling their virtues, but if you haven't checked out what they're doing over at BaylorBears.com, you should. They've taken the Waco Regional to a new level with a website dedicated entirely to it that has rosters, schedules, stats, and social media links for each team. That's pretty impressive stuff.

This evening's game will be the first for Baylor Baseball in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, and we play tonight against the Eagles of Oral Roberts University (4 seed) for the chance to play Dallas Baptist tomorrow. This Tournament, like the Big 12 tourney before it, is a double-elimination tournament at each step. (2) Dallas Baptist beat (3) UT-Arlington earlier today to send UTA to possible elimination tomorrow against the loser of our game tonight. Make sense?

The good news is that with only four teams in each pod, it only takes three wins to advance to a super-regional. As the #1 seed in this regional, Baylor is the overwhelming favorite to be that team from the field. If you want more information about the three teams in our region, take a look at Miles's preview from earlier this week.

As for this game, it's ace-on-ace for Baylor and ORU tonight with Josh Turley taking the mound for Baylor and Drew Bowen, Jr. representing ORU. Here are their stats:

Baylor: LHP Josh Turley, Jr. (9-0, 1.64 ERA, 93.1 IP, 78 H, 23 R, 17 ER, 18 BB, 67 SO)
Oral Roberts:
RHP Drew Bowen, Jr. (6-2, 1.87 ERA, 81.2 IP, 72 H, 25 R, 17 ER, 18 BB, 66 SO)
