The worst-kept secret of this year's NFL Draft is finally official as the Washington Redskins landed the QB they have coveted for so long in Baylor's Robert Griffin III. The selection gives Baylor its second top-2 overall pick in the last three years (Jason Smith, 2010) and fourth ever (Jack Wilson, 1942, Adrian Burke, 1950, Smith, and now RG3). It also gives Baylor its fourth first-round pick in the last three years (so far...) and, of course, Redskin fans a new hero and Washington D.C. a new king.

Griffin chose to depart Baylor after a junior season in which he led the Bears to their first 10-win season since 1987, helmed one of the best offenses in the entire country, and won the program's first Heisman Trophy ever. To Baylor fans he is a hero without equal, a marketing machine for Baylor Football like none before him, and a model of everything we hope our student-athletes can be.

Congratulations, Redskins fans, I think you already know that you are going to love him. The NFL has never seen a pass-first QB with his athleticism, intellect, drive, and charisma. As a Baylor fan first and a Dallas Cowboys fan second, I hope he is every bit the franchise QB you dreamed he will be. He has every possible attribute of a truly elite player in the NFL, and he will represent you as well as he continues to represent us. I could not be more happy that he will go to a fan base that has already shown him so much love, even if your colors make me vomit.

Most of all, though, congratulations Robert! You worked extremely hard to get where you are and you deserve it. Dreams do come true!

Baylor fans stay tuned for about 2 hours or so until pick #22 and the Cleveland Browns. Their trade up for Trent Richardson means that Justin Blackmon is off the table, and they supposedly have a certain receiver in mind for that spot.
