Baylor Football Recruiting Update- Commit #7 is LB D.J. Green

Mesquite Horn OLB D.J. Green (6-2, 215) called Baylor's coaching staff tonight and gave them the news they wanted to hear-- he would be joining the ranks of Baylor's 2013 recruiting class and giving his verbal commitment. Green is a 3* LB according to Rivals, Scout, and 247Sports, and already holds an offer from SMU with significant interest from TCU, Arkansas, Iowa State, Washington, and Kansas, as well. Scout's latest rankings have Green as the #21 LB in the country.

Greg Powers from Scout.com has an article up about Green's commitment and describes him as a guy he really likes that "hits heavy" on film and in games. He believes that Green's recruitment will explode this summer when he makes the camp circuit, but Green says none of that matters because he is 100% committed to Baylor.

Brian Ethridge of BearsTruth (247Sports) also posted a short update sharing his thoughts about the commitment. Apparently from what he has heard, this is one the coaching staff really wanted.

Kevin Lonnquist of SicEmSports (Rivals) says that Green created a list of criteria in his mind for what he wanted in a school and realized that Baylor met all of them. After that, Green had nothing else to do but make the call to the coaching staff and make things official.

As usual, I'll throw a highlight video below the jump. Welcome to Baylor Nation, D.J., and sic 'em!

UPDATE: I took the picture down because I don't know how to make the text wrap around it. I'll put it back up when I do. Here it is.
