Baylor Football Snags Commit #6 for 2013: WR/DB Kyle Fulks

Just a quick update from the world of Twitter-- Baylor received its sixth commitment in the 2013 class this evening in the form of Katy WR/DB Kyle Fulks. A relative unknown in the football recruiting world to this point (his profiles on Scout and Rivals show no rankings whatsoever), Fulks is actually quite the track star; he apparently won his district in the 100 and 200 two years ago as a freshman and last year as a sophomore, and has performed extremely well indoors and outdoors this season. According to Kyle's twitter account (@UNOFulks), he turned in a personal-best 20.93 in the 200 today before committing to the Bears. (I have no idea if that is good or not, but from the reaction I've seen, it is apparently stellar. Congratulations, Kyle!)

On the football side, I've managed to find posts on other message boards praising Fulks' athleticism and two-way skill for Katy this past season, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I see the 5-9, 165-pound speedster playing CB for the Bears when it is all said and done. I had previously thought that Baylor had its sights set elsewhere on the remaining WR spots in this class, but I can obviously be wrong. BearsTruth, Baylor's 247Sports site, lists him as a WR on its commit list as of this writing, and, interestingly enough given what I've already said about Rivals and Scout's non-interest in Mr. Fulks, has him as our second-highest-rated recruit in this class behind only Quan Jones. That is definitely interesting, indeed.

It's also extremely interesting to me that most of the information I've found on him comes from Arkansas message boards, if you believe that. Apparently the Hawgs had quite a fascination with Mr. Fulks before their recent troubles, so it turns out that Petrino's little mishap might have helped us already.

I know BearsTruth's Brian Ethridge is busy working the interwebs to try to pull an interview with Baylor's newest recruit, and I will update this post with more information as it becomes available.

For now you'll have to be content with his Hudl highlight video (he's #1) and a few videos from Youtube that I'll embed below. The first is from a track meet two weeks ago where Fulks ran a 10.94 100.

That's all I've got for now. Like I said, I'll post more information when I have it.
