It's been a crazy last 24 hours for Baylor's athletic programs. In the early game yesterday, Brittney Griner very nearly outscored the Kansas State Wildcats herself by setting a career-high and conference tournament record in points with 45. In the late game, Baylor's men's basketball team upset the #1-seed Kansas Jayhawks 81-72 in front of a crowd in Kansas City largely sympathetic to the Jayhawks. After that hubbub died down, news broke that the Washington Redskins agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Rams sending a king's ransom in draft picks to the Rams for the #2 pick in this year's NFL Draft, a pick that will likely turn out to be Baylor QB Robert Griffin III.

All of that action sets up a Saturday where the word "Baylor" is emblazoned across nearly every sports outlet, website, or news source, which is only the latest indication that 2011-2012 is the Year of the Bear.
