2/16/2012 Daily Bears Report: Live from Sunny Colorado

Sorry for the lack of content today, I am traveling with a men's group from my church and we were on the road for just about 15 hours out of the last 24. For you, the readers, that probably means that my reaction time to breaking news and current events will be slower than normal, but I'll do what I can when I can to catch up and keep you informed. The easiest way to do that is to follow @OurDailyBears on twitter, since I can do that from my phone no matter where I am.

The two biggest stories from today involve football recruiting and women's basketball. As to the former, Baylor received its third verbal commitment for the 2013 class today from OLB Travon Blanchard. Here's the quick and dirty of what you need to know about him:

Name: Travon Blanchard
HS: West Orange-Stark HS (Orange, TX)
Position: OLB
HT/WT: 6-2/185
40: 4.43 Highlights: Junior 1, Junior 2.

Coverage from the recruiting sites (each is a link): Rivals, Scout, 247Sports.

The other big story is the continued domination of the entire WBB universe by the Baylor Lady Bears. Here is the story from the official athletic site:

Top-Ranked WBB Runs Past Cowgirls, 83-52 - Baylor Bears Official Athletic Site - BaylorBears.com
Brittney Griner had 28 points and 10 rebounds, Kimetria Hayden scored a season-high 20 points and top-ranked Baylor remained perfect this season by beating Oklahoma State 83-52 on Wednesday night.

Keeping with the coverage of WBB, I know I linked to a similar story about this the other day, but SI's story is particularly good, so it's worth looking at.

Baylor Baseball is getting started this weekend, and as I said before, if you or someone you know has a passion for our baseball program and is interested in writing about it for the blog, please let me know. I want coverage of Baylor Baseball to be an integral part of what we do here since that will be part of the offseason for the other major sports.

The rest is miscellaneous stories ranging from Robert Griffin III's place in the Draft to WVU's inclusion in the Big XII with a little blurb about recruiting thrown in.
