Baylor Football heads into the last weekend of the season against Oklahoma State on Saturday, coming off their 52-45 OT win last weekend over Texas Tech. The senior game will be played at 11:00 AM on the 1st, and it will be televised on FX. With Baylor's win, the Bears become bowl eligible, and Mark takes a look at some of the likely scenarios for the late-December game. Baylor linebacker Eddie Lackey had a game for the books on Saturday, intercepting Tech quarterback Seth Doege twice, once returned 55 yards for a touchdown. He was also named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, making this the second week in a row that Baylor has taken home that award (Joe Williams, who batted down the pass attempt on a Tech 4th and 5 in OT, won last week.)
Baylor quarterback Nick Florence also had a nice game, throwing for 396 yards (22/37), three touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards with one touchdown in the win. Baylor's famous (and favorite) son RG3 was back supporting his old team this weekend, a few days after leading his Washington Redskins to victory over the Cowboys in the same stadium. Oklahoma State comes to Waco this weekend, and this game will decide which bowl the Cowboys will go to, meaning that the Bears could both play spoiler and improve their own bowl outlook with a win.
Baylor Soccer's Carlie Davis was honored by College Soccer 360 this week for her play in Baylor's last two games in the NCAA tournament last week. Davis played all 203 minutes of the last two games and had an impact on defense and offense for the Bears in their historic tournament run.
Games this week for Baylor: Men's Basketball is at Kentucky on Saturday, televised on CBS at 11:30 AM, which is a bit awkward given that football plays on FX (and at Floyd Casey) on Saturday at 11:00 AM. The Lady Bears are at Rice on the 27th at 7:00 PM, and that game will be available on Gametracker on BaylorBears.com. That's about it for sports this week, with the semester coming to the end.
