QB Casey Pachall suspended for the rest of 2012

TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson announced a few minutes ago that QB Casey Pachall will leave the school, if he hasn't already, for the rest of the semester to enroll in a drug/alcohol treatment program.

It seems I may have shortchanged Patterson and TCU a bit when it came to the Casey Pachall situation. Pachall will leave the school, if he hasn't already, for the rest of the 2012 fall semester and enroll in a drug/alcohol treatment program. That obviously means he will not play the rest of this season for TCU and Trevone Boykin will be the Frogs' starting QB this weekend against Baylor. QB-turned-WR Matt Brown will likely come back to the QB position to back up Boykin, who started his first game at the college level this past weekend in a home loss to Iowa State.

I believe @FollowtheFrogs had the story first on twitter.

My initial reaction is that this is almost certainly the best thing for Pachall's situation, which has gone from alarming to extremely dangerous for both the player and the people around him. As for Baylor, we gained a little certainty today in who we'll be facing this weekend, but the fact that we don't have a lot of tape on Boykin is somewhat of an issue. I'd almost certainly rather face a Boykin-led TCU offense than one captained by Pachall, but neither one has been all that great this season. As we'll see in the offensive preview this week, their #1 problem has been and continues to be preventing turnovers.
