Denny Medley-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Baylor Football is off this weekend before next week's Parents Weekend game against TCU. The Lariat has a breakdown of the other games in the Big 12 this weekend with everything to watch for. TCU's game against Iowa State should be one that Baylor fans pay attention to, especially after the arrest and suspension of star quarterback Casey Pachall.

Baylor Basketball guard Pierre Jackson was named the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year yesterday in a vote by the leagues coaches. Jackson averaged 13.8 points and dished out 223 assists in the Bears' 30-8 season last year, and was a key member of the team in their journey to an Elite Eight berth. He was named to the All-Big 12 second team and was an All-America honorable mention. This has been an exciting week for Jackson- in addition to the Big 12 honors, Desert Pines High School is retiring his No. 5 jersey at their football game tonight in recognition of his accomplishments since graduation.

Baylor Soccer senior forward Dana Larsen came to Baylor a hard working but homesick freshman, but after four years is now an automatic first-team selection who leads (25) Baylor with 7 goals on just 14 shots, 4 of them game-winners. Larsen's personal growth throughout her time at Baylor matches with the growth of the team from punching bag of the Big 12 to a ranked and NCAA tournament appearance making team. The 25th-ranked Bears (10-1-2) play Texas Tech (10-3-0) tonight in Lubbock at 7:00 PM, and video streaming can be found on BaylorBears.com.

If you missed it, Our Daily Bears founder and manager Mark C Moore wrote yesterday about his son, William, who has spinal muscular atrophy. If you haven't read it, you really should.

Finally, it's this week's installment of This Week in Gifs, featuring the last gifs of regular season baseball, and Baylor's own Nick Florence! Nick Florence, y'all! Baylor's in a...oh wait, he was being sacked. Well, still! There's also Chad Jenkins' magic catch, so click on that link.
