Daily Bears Report: 10.19.2012 (Fall Break!)

Ah, the one day of fall break that Baylor gives its students! It's lovely, even if you are stuck in Waco.

By now you should be totally aware of the location and opponent in this weekend's Baylor football game. As the Bears look to beat the Longhorns for the third straight year, Baylor linebacker Bryce Hagar will be hoping to take down the team he once cheered for, and to build a legacy at Baylor like his father did at Texas. Tomorrow's game may turn into a shootout like the West Virginia game, even though the Longhorns are currently favored by two touchdowns.

Baylor Men's Basketball's season starts in less than a week, and the Bears have one of the strongest teams in the Big 12, on paper. With a loaded backcourt and a talented, if young, front court, the Bears could potentially challenge the Kansas Jayhawks for the Big 12 crown. Baylor's first game is an exhibition against Abilene Christian on October 25th at 7:00 PM in the Ferrell Center.

(20) Baylor Soccer hosts UT and Iowa State this weekend as part of their final three game homestand for the season. The Bears (11-1-4, 2-0-3) play the Longhorns (7-7-1, 4-1-0) at 7:00 PM tonight, and the first 400 fans to arrive at Betty Lou Mays Stadium will recieve a free Baylor Soccer t-shirt. The game against the Cyclones (10-7-0, 1-4-0) will be Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM.

Baylor Women's Tennis will be hosting the USTA/ITA Regional Championships at the Hurd Tennis Center this weekend. The Lady Bears will be entering four players in the 128-member singles draw and two teams in the 64-team doubles draw. Coach Joey Scrivano hopes that the Lady Bears will take advantage of home court advantage, while not letting themselves be distracted by being close to home.
