Robert Griffin III was just announced on ESPN as the winner of the 2011 Heisman Trophy, the 77th time the award has been given in its history. He is the first Baylor player to be a finalist for the award, much less to win it, and is beyond doubt now the greatest football player in Baylor history. More than that, though, he is the officially the most outstanding player in the entire country.

And he wears BAYLOR across his chest.

No matter where he goes after this year, if he stays in Waco as a senior or decides to pursue his NFL dreams, we as a university have been unbelievably lucky to have RGIII on our campus and in our community. I have no doubt that whatever he decides to do, he will be successful and he will represent Baylor well throughout. Congratulations, Robert, on an incredible season, and if you do choose to leave, an incredible career. Baylor and Waco are no doubt better for the time you spent here, and you are the consummate example of what we hope our collegiate athletes will be.

Sic 'em, Robert!!!
