I'll save you some time by saying that if RGIII had won offensive player of the week again, I would have posted something much more celebratory. As it stands, Brandon Weeden of OSU won it for the second time this season.
Ronnell Lewis (Junior DE, Oklahoma) won the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in OU's big win over A&M on Saturday.
Here is the full list, available from the Big XII's website: Needs more RGIII.
Just to compare the games the two had...
I can't argue with this selection at all, actually. Given Kansas State's defensive reputation, Weeden had what was by any measure an incredible game. Add to that the fact that the game was entertaining to the final seconds and Weeden quarterbacks what is now the second-ranked team in all the land and you have a deserving winner of this week's Big XII Offensive Player of the Week.
That doesn't mean that I think Weeden is as good as people make him out to be, but he's obviously very good. The Oklahoma State offense is generally a thing of wonder, and I actually do like watching them play quite a bit.
Just because I wanted to see it, though, here are the stats from the other QB in that KState-OSU game.
That's one heck of a game from him! If KState had pulled off the upset, I guarantee you I'd be writing this article about him right now. OSU simply could not stop him on the ground and he kept his team in that game almost single-handedly.
Oh well, I have a feeling I might get the chance to put one of these up next week about RGIII after Baylor plays in Lawrence this weekend. Or at least I hope I do.*
*NO JINX, I SWEAR!
