The most-obvious pick in the history of the WNBA Draft just happened: the Phoenix Mercury selected Baylor's Brittney Griner with the first-overall selection in this year's Draft. Congratulations, Brittney!
Mark Cuban made waves this morning by saying he would "consider" drafting Brittney Griner in the second round of this year's NBA Draft and would have "no problem whatsoever" letting her try out even if she wasn't drafted. What does that mean?
The Louisville Cardinals did the unthinkable tonight in Oklahoma City by shooting lights-out from 3 and hammering Brittney Griner for 40 straight minutes. Even an incredible comeback wasn't enough, and the #1 overall seed is done.
We join this one in progress (sorry, Easter happened) with the Lady Bears trailing by 9. Louisville has come out guns a-blazin' in this game, hitting 4/5 from 3 and 7/9 from the field.
The line stretched around the Ferrell Center an hour before the doors opened for the second round of NCAA play, where the Baylor Lady Bears took on the Florida State Seminoles for the chance to advance on to Oklahoma City and the Sweet Sixteen.
The Lady Bears are "only" 31-point favorites tonight against the Seminoles (Lady Seminoles? Seminettes?) in Waco. It's the last time our home crowd will ever get to see Brittney Griner play in the Ferrell Center, so enjoy it!
Brittney Griner led the Lady Bears with 33 points and 10 rebounds, while Odyssey Sims had 12 points and 10 assists.
The Lady Bears' run to a second-straight national title begins in Waco, Texas tonight in front of what I expect to be a crowd filled to the brim with Baylor faithful. The line for this game, as of this moment, is 57.5 points. I like Baylor to win.
You guys are getting me today because Kate has boring stuff like "school" to take care of. I hope you enjoy it. We've got Spring Practices starting back up and Madness/NIT action ready to get underway. It's a great time to be alive!
