It seems we can finally put the various and sundry rumors to rest regarding QB Kenny Hill's recruitment-- he appears to be sticking with his commitment to A&M following an in-home visit with Aggie QB coach Jake Spavital this evening and will sign on the dotted line next week.
I'm disappointed in the news because I really like Kenny Hill, who is as talented a QB as we've seen in the state of Texas over the past few years. I'm not going to sugarcoat this loss at all; we really wanted to flip him to green and gold and couldn't get it done. Some will say it's not a huge loss because we didn't expect to get him, but I don't ascribe to that line of thinking, personally. Any potentially great player the schools around us get that we want is a loss, in my mind. That's not to say I'm going to fling myself from the nearest bridge or tear my clothes to shreds in anger, but I am disappointed.
We can argue all night about whether this is a good decision for Hill, but it's not entirely relevant. It's his decision and he made it according to his preferences. He seems every bit the smart, well-adjusted recruit we've been told he is, and I hope everything at A&M works out as well as he apparently believes it will. Well ... maybe not that well.
