The offense continues to be a bright spot, but they aren't the only ones shining.

Baylor Football ended its spring practices today with a scrimmage dominated by both first teams. The offense ran and passed its way to 6 touchdowns, while the defense racked up 2 interceptions and 3 sacks of its own. All in all, it was a gorgeous day for more than just the weather.

Across Texas this morning, we have absolutely gorgeous weather for a little springtime football. The high this afternoon for Waco is 79 degrees with a 0% chance of rain and breezy winds from the south gusting to 25 mph. We'll have to see if those winds have any effect on the passing game.

The last time most Baylor fans saw the green and gold on a field of play, the Bears were thrashing UCLA in the Holiday Bowl. Tomorrow, they will take the field in Waco ready to start the 2013-2014 season. With several dozen recruits and thousands of Baylor fans in attendance, it should be quite a show.

That's this coming Saturday, obviously. There had been a few questions asked about what time the scrimmage was scheduled to take place, and now those questions have been answered.
According to Baylor, admission to the scrimmage is free and there will be shuttles running from the Ferrell Center to the Highers Athletic Complex between 11 AM and 4 PM. If you want to go, I strongly suggest you do; I managed to make it for the first Spring Scrimmage at Highers a couple of years ago, though I didn't get to go last year when I really wanted to, and it's a great time. Word is that a number of recruits will be on-hand to partake in the festivities, and if you are as football-starved as I am, this will be your only opportunity to see the Bears in action until August 31 when they take the field against Wofford. That is such a very long time away.

I'm slightly disappointed he wasn't announcing his surrogacy of Robert Griffin III's first child, but this is still good. I guess. He claims that he'll have video updates and observations from today's practice, the first following the Easter Holiday.

The lads snuck a scrimmage in on us today that I had no idea was going to happen at all, and once again the results were mixed. We're getting to the point now, one week out from the actual Spring Game, where we can probably say that one of two things has happened: the defense has improved or the offense regressed, or both.

Baylor Football received a bit of bad news yesterday when upcoming junior tackle Troy Baker went down with an apparent injury, now confirmed by a tear of his left ACL.

Baylor held its second real scrimmage of the spring today in front of a crowd of recruits and onlookers at the Highers Athletic Complex. Reports are relatively limited, but here's everything I can find.

Let's make the distinction right now between inside receivers (IRs) and wide receivers (WRs) in Briles' system. They're not the same thing. Sometimes we move players in between the two roles, but the roles themselves are different. I'm worried about the latter.

Baylor Football took the field for the first time in 2013 today, and even though the Bears were clad in only jerseys and shorts, there's a lot to be excited about.

After talking with someone who was there today, here's the way things shook out for most of the positions on the field. We're waving our hands a bit on some of the skill positions, which may or may not even be known at this point.

Baylor DC Phil Bennett begins his third year at the helm in earnest today when the teams take the field for the first spring practice of 2013. He's got more talent to work with than ever before, but serious questions remain about how he'll use it.

Coming off the first successful year post-RGIII, Baylor has several questions to answer on offense, both on the offensive line and in replacing its second record-setting QB in two years. Offenses carry Art Briles' teams, so how will this one continue to improve?

Some fairly big news today on the defensive side of the ball as the potential depth chart for Baylor Football heading into spring practice (Friday) begins to take shape.

NCAA rules allow for 15 full practices and a spring game, which will be played on Saturday, April 6. The practices and spring game will be held at the on-campus facility, not Floyd Casey. Get excited!

With about three weeks to go before Baylor begins its 2013 Spring workouts, here is how I project things at this point. I've no inside information, this is mostly speculation combined with what little info has been reported by other places.
