SI's Pete Thamel is reporting that sources indicate to him that NIU will make the BCS, probably pushing Baylor down the lineup of Big 12 bowl affiliations.

This news could push us down to the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas in Houston. The idea that NIU deserves a BCS bowl game over OU is ridiculous.
If this news is true, things will probably work out as follows (opponents in parenthesis):
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Kansas State (Oregon?)
AT&T Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma (SEC, possibly LSU, A&M, or Georgia)
Valero Alamo Bowl: Texas (Oregon State)
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl: Oklahoma State or TCU (Michigan State)
Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl: Texas Tech or TCU (UCLA)
Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas: Baylor or TCU (Minnesota)
New Era Pinstripe Bowl: West Virginia (Syracuse)
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Baylor or TCU (Purdue)
The latest projections from SB Nation have this as a disaster for us, putting us in the Liberty Bowl vs. Tulsa. We woke up this morning looking at a possible BWW matchup with Oregon State.
