I watched it on HOB on demand. They're basically saying that the major athletic universities have created a system that gives useless degrees to a high percentage of athletes in order to comply with the NCAA requirement that 50% of student athletes need to graduate - in lieu of having any minimum SAT or ACT requirements - that they're basically gaming the system.
They cite Baylor in this episode - showing the football team and saying that 50% of our football athletes are general studies majors - the implication being that the University is giving useless degrees to these students.
I haven't seen any comments on this - what are peoples thoughts? Do we believe that we have a systemic problem? I didn't like seeing Baylor cited - I wonder why they chose us.
