It's a probably a crazy stretch to suggest that Baylor University is Point Guard U, but in each of their team's last post-season tournament games, Odyssey Sims and Pierre Jackson certainly threw down some sick stats!
In the Lady Bears' drumming of Prairie View A&M last night, Junior point guard Sims had ZERO turnovers, TEN assists, FIVE steals, and 12 points on 50% shooting from the field! Even though the performance came against a 16-seed opponent, those are spectacular numbers. Odyssey continues to make the case that she is the second best player in women's college basketball this year.
In Baylor men's victory over Arizona State University last Friday night, P-Jack had SIXTEEN NIT-record breaking assists, FOUR steals, and 26 total points because of making 17 out of 21 free throws. Even though he only had four baskets, those BU fans who closely watch this team understand that he is a difference maker whether he's scoring or dishing assists. His three consecutive baskets before halftime helped Baylor pull within 2 points of ASU and gain some crucial momentum going into the break.
Both of these players set the tempo as team leaders, and it is a joy to watch their workmanlike, tireless approach to the game on both ends of the court!
