Art Briles - Classless...

That is the most ludicrous statement that I have ever heard. Coach Patterson, honestly you should be ashamed.

Ahmad Dixon committed a targeting foul and rightfully should have gotten thrown out of the game. That was a dumb play on his part and it hurt Baylor's chances to win. It will also hurt Baylor's chances to win next week. With that said, I have no doubt whatsoever that his intention was to make a play, not to hurt or disable Trevone Boykin. If the Baylor defense wants to enforce dominance over the middle, excellent, but do it with a shoulder pad to the body. Stay away from the head and shoulder areas. The coaches are teaching that and the officials are calling it.

Also, did Baylor play well today? Offense, not hardly. Defense, very good at times not so good at others. Good enough to win? I guess so, but this game was in question for 59 minutes and 49 seconds. A hard fought battle with both teams committing costly mistakes. It came down to the second to the last play of the game and the Baylor defense stood up. Sam Holl made the best play of his career and Terrell Burt was lucky enough to catch a tipped ball to salt away the win. Holl looked like he jumped sideways 9 feet to get his hands on that pass, great play. All Baylor fans mopped their brows, let out a collective "whew…" and moved on. A road win against a team with arguably the best defense in the league is something that every coach is happy with, regardless of the circumstances. They don't ask you how, they ask you how many.

Coach Briles was clear in his post game comments about the game and where his focus was. Regarding the win: "It's possibly the biggest win that we've experienced - one of the biggest - since we've been at Baylor the last six years." Regarding TCU's defense: "I think it was just phenomenal, quite honestly." He also heaped praise on Casey Pachall and on his own team for overcoming adversity and winning on the road. This coming from a guy who is leaving the game to attend his brother's funeral tomorrow. If anyone had the right to be a sore winner it was Coach Briles. Was he? Not a chance. When asked if he had any comments about the incident with Coach Patterson he said simply, "No, we have moved on to Texas".

Casey Pachall's post-game quote: "Hands down, we kicked their ass on the field, there’s no doubt about." Casey, that quote was so inspiring, so thought provoking, you should get a tattoo of it. There is still a little room left on your pinkie. And by the way, the score board begs to differ with your statement. I may be pointing out the obvious in saying that, but just in case you missed it... If I were you I would have thanked your teammates and said something about being grateful to have a second chance to come back and play the game that you love. Believe me, that would have increased your draft stock more than the quote that you chose to use.

And Coach Patterson, that 4 minute rave at your post-game was darn near unintelligible. The one thing that rung crystal clear to me was that you think that Baylor is a classless program and that Art Briles and his team are out of control. Saying things like "They didn't correct the problem a long time ago" and "If that's what class is, I dont want to be it" and "I'm not going to teach my guys that" and finally "we should have won that game."

Come on coach, do you really think that Art Briles is classless? If you do, you would be the first person out of the last 100,000 people that have met him to think that. Dumb play? Yes. Classless coach with out of control players? Emphatically no. You might want to introspect a bit before you start throwing rocks next time…

Everyone knows that coaches are a fraternity. Competitors on the field, but supportive of each other off of it. One thing that no coach wants to have happen is to anger the other members of the fraternity and become the guy that everybody in the league is really gunning for. Those of us old enough to remember John Jenkins, the head coach of the Houston Cougars in the early 90's, know exactly what I am talking about. Keep it up Gary and you will find yourself in those same shoes.

Coach Briles, the heart of the Baylor nation is hurting with you this week. We wish you our sincerest condolences as you attend Eddie's funeral tomorrow. We celebrate the win tonight but we mourn your loss tomorrow.

You are as classy as they get, thanks for everything you have done for Baylor.
