Malcolm Gladwell and Chuck Klosterman on Manti Te'O
This is probably one of the best commentaries that I've read about the sports-entertainment interface in quite a long time. Two of the best social commentators take on the awkward Te'O situation through e-mail less than 24 hours after word first leaked. "But if it turns out he was complicit in all of this, why should I change my mind? Can you answer that for me, Chuck? There is this underlying assumption in all of these sensational stories that we have an obligation to judge people in accordance with the facts — and when the facts change that our judgments ought to change as well. I happen to hate that idea. Since when does a human being have to behave like a court of law?"
