Baylor is stuck as the 26th team in a 25 team field this week, just on the cusp of BlogPoll recognition.
The BlogPoll results are out again this week, and I have to say that the chronic underappreciation for Baylor's season thus far is getting a little ridiculous. Stuck on the outside looking in again this week, Baylor was passed by such notable powerhouses as Northwestern, Rutgers, and Ohio. Not Ohio State, Ohio.
This wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't think it was probably our last chance for a while to be ranked. Should things go as the oddsmakers expect this weekend, we certainly won't be ranked next week and may have to fight our way back in later on. Our schedule sets up for a chance to do just that, but I wanted the recognition this week. And I think we deserved it. Adding insult to injury is the fact that we actually received more votes than we did last week, enough to get into the Poll, anyway, our problem was that several voters who had ranked us previously moved us down in their rankings. For winning. Over a good team in a road game.
Anyway, other than that, it's hard to argue with anything from the Poll this week. I'm not sure Kansas State really deserved a #1 ranking, but they've got momentum and an impressive win. I know Florida doesn't, and their top billing actually came from the FSU blog, if you can believe it.
This week's opponent, West Virginia, actually moved down three places after a relatively poor performance in a win over Maryland. Does that make you feel better about the game this weekend? Probably not. Check out the link for more information. I'm sure you'll be shocked to find where the UT blogs ranked the Longhorns once again. It earned them yet another distinction as top 5 in homerism.
