We have quite a few new people around these days, so I thought I'd put a short post about Game Threads and how they work. The participation in game threads last year was relatively lackluster, and I think that was largely because people didn't realize how they work.
About an hour before the game starts this evening (the game starts at 5:30 CST, so that means 4:30 CST) a thread will go up on the front page called a "Game Day Thread" or GDT for short. That thread will be where we concentrate all game-related discussion. The purpose of the post will not be its content, but its discussion. We watch the game, talk about it, and celebrate/commiserate together. GDTs are where the chat room-esque features of SBNation's commenting system really shine, and I hope everyone incapable of making it to Waco today joins us.
The only real "rules" of the GDT are that if you post a picture (and feel free to do that), do it with a title line so it can be hidden. Also, let's keep the cursing to a minimum. Other than that, post whatever you feel and have fun. If you find something interesting on twitter, post it. If you want to express yourself through hilarious .gifs, do so. Enjoy yourself, that's the point, after all!
So, I'll see you guys for the first GDT of the 2012 season this afternoon/evening! Sic 'em, Bears!
