The State of Baylor in the State of Texas

Notre Dame. Butler. Valparaiso. Marquette. Temple. St. Mary’s.

Like Baylor, the geographic locations of these universities are relatively unknown to most Americans. However, given how special this year has been for BU, many more people than ever before should now know that Baylor is a proud part of the Lone Star State.

To-date, in this school year the Bears have owned the Longhorns, Aggies, Red Raiders, and Horned Frogs in the major sports (i.e., football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball), except for the football loss to the Ags. And if Texas were to annex Oklahoma—not that any of us would care for that to happen—the domination of Baylor extends to the Sooners and Cowboys/Cowgirls, except for our gridiron loss to the Pokes.

Against our Texas and Oklahoma opponents, Baylor is 22-2 this year in the major sports! You gotta admit that such an accomplishment was unimaginable even a year ago. But, perhaps the best news is this: Baylor fans can have hope that this success is sustainable given the recruiting and development success that we are enjoying across all sports under Director of Athletics Ian McCaw’s watch.

It is possible that the best is yet to come!

Sic ‘em, Bears!
