Weekend Watch: Feb. 10-12 - ESPN
I'm also looking dead on at Baylor-Mizzou. We talked about it on my drive to Charlotte from Chapel Hill on Thursday -- the Bears got punked by Kansas this weekend. Frankly, they were punked by Mizzou in Waco in the last meeting. To me, this is Baylor's last chance to show us something. What are you? A glorified AAU team, as our colleague Doug Gottlieb hilariously tweeted Wednesday? Or a legitimate Final Four contender proportionate to your talent? Put up-or-shut up time for Scott Drew's team.

Baylor's D will be key against Missouri - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN
Baylor played zone for 82 percent of the first half and held Missouri to 39 points, which is actually below the Tigers' average this season. But in the second half, Baylor mixed it up evenly with its man and zone defenses. The result? Missouri scored on 16 of 20 plays against the man defense, as compared to just 45 percent against the zone, and ultimately Baylor gave up 50 second-half points and lost the game.

Baylor's inside stars need bounce-back games | Baylor Bears | Sports News and Videos on the D... After a statement game that said all the wrong things about the direction of the Baylor men's basketball program in its pursuit of more national recognition, Bears players and coach Scott Drew offered all the right answers.

#6 Baylor vs. #4 Missouri - Men's College Basketball - Watch Live Basketball
Prevailing in some close games, including two against top 10 opponents, has kept Missouri in contention for a Big 12 title during its final season in the conference. The fourth-ranked Tigers will try to use that experience in Saturday's rematch with No. 6 Baylor, which will have a final chance for at least the near future to earn its first win at Missouri in 64 years.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Go Bears!

Under 16 mark

5-4 Bears after the 16 minute timeout. A few turnovers already, but good ball movement so far. Pierre missed 2 wide open shots. Perry is attacking the boards, but no shots yet.

Defensively, Mizzou is being patient and found Ratliffe with great position for their first bucket. Acy has to do a better job of not letting him get that deep and then giving him the over his left shoulder hook. He does that almost every shot.

Mizzou doing a good job of making our zone scramble. The perimeter defense is lacking right now. We are giving them easy passes to the deep post, and too much space.

Of course Phil Pressey makes a banked in 3. Why not. I don’t mind us leaving him a bit. He is not that great from deep.

Quincy Miller is int this game. He is going after them. 7 of our 11 points. He just forced one a bit there though and turned it over.

Right now, we are playing solid. We are forcing them to shoot deep, and they are 2-6 from 3-point land.

Perimeter defense is struggling right now. Letting them get into the paint a little too much. I would like to see us press up on their guards to take away the easy passes inside and also take away some of their breathing room.

Offensively, I like what we are doing. Very patient, and deliberate. We are getting the ball in well, just missing some shots from Acy and PJ3.

I definitely like what I've seen of our shot selection.

Part of the problem offensively against Kansas was the hero mentality that someone needed to stop the run and we needed to do it NOW!

Slow things down, run the offense, and take good shots when they’re available. Some of these shots will start falling.

Halftime Stats of note

Bears shooting 36.7% from the floor. MIzzou shooting over 50%. They are taking and making good shots. Not good. Bears losing the turnover battle 7-2.

Quincy Miller only has 3 shots. Need to get him the ball more. I would like to see us with ANT and Quincy out there at the same time. Just to see what happens, since those are the two kids really attacking.

23-8 rebounding edge, with the Bears getting 12 offensive. Mizzou does not have any offensive rebounds. LOVE that.

Pressey is just nailing shots, that’s it. He isn’t that good of a shooter, so if he wants to take 3s all day, have at it.

Mizzou is starting to get them. They are dangerous on those resets, due to their spreading the floor and hitting 3’s. We crash hard, and then are not in position to find their shooters. Have to keep them off the offensive glass.

Under 8 mark

58-45,and Mizzou is shooting 13-25 from three. We are shooting 4-13.

That is really the only difference in this game.

First game I can remember

That we are losing and Perry is our leading shot taker. Too bad he is missing everything.

Dribble Acy

Why did he not dribble??? Come on kid. That would have gotten it under 10

Killing it. Good defense still...they just can't miss

Need some stop.

Lets get this an 8 point game at the under 4 mark.

Traveling...

Acy. Just stop. Just stop. You have to dribble. You cannot take 2 steps from the 3-point line and make a layup.

So frustrating

They are going to have a home and home with ISU to see if they can hang onto third and a 3 seed.

This is awe-inspiring. I've never seen a team shoot like this.

We had zero chance.

I don't think we drop that far.

I think 10th, but I will have to take a deeper look at it.

Yeah, they will stay in the top 15

But they are probably already at 9 or 10 based on Wednesday

Florida, Murray State, Georgetown and St Mary's Lost

That will soften our fall.

Good point

But Georgetown shouldn’t be penalized too much for the loss to Syracuse. Florida on the other hand…

Under 4 Mark

Well, down 14, Mizzou raining three’s and making everything they throw up. The Bears are playing hard, and the defense has been there. The shots are just all going in.

50% shooting overall, and 51.9% (14-27) from three. Ridiculous.

37.3% shooting....we just aren't making enough shots anymore

9 assists on our 19 makes. I would say most of the shots we have missed were isolation plays and non-assisted shots.

Our ball movement has just been bad.

Perry played hard...

Just not well. He had 6 boards at the under 8 mark of the first half, and ended with 7. We need more from him on the glass, even with him missing everything he throws up.

Tim, do you want to handle the post game?

Pras, if you want to add thoughts, just do it at the end and mark it. I’ll do the same.

Final 57-72

Too much shooting for Mizzou, and not enough for us. They made shots, we missed them. That is really what this game boiled down too…
