On Homecoming... Nov 3rd, Three things started happened to the Baylor Bears.
The First is they started giving Lache Seastrunk more carries: Kansas 17, Oklahoma 15, Kansas State 19, Texas Tech 19. Before the Homecoming game he averaged a little over 4 carries a game. I think everyone knew that he would take on a larger role next year, if not at some point this year. I know that by going to Seastrunk, that meant a lot less carries for Salubi, but I feel Briles did the right thing by making the move.
The Second is they have increased their Time of Possession: Kansas 29:44, Oklahoma 27:25, Kansas State 30:18, Texas Tech 32:38. The games before we averaged a little over 24 minutes per game. I know that this helps the defense as they get more rest cause the offensive is on the field. It possibly allows them to be fresher to make the extra effort turnover plays.
The Third and final is they have started winning again. When the Bears lost to Iowa St. and became 3-4 with a 4 game losing streak, I heard so much negativity. There is no way we would be bowl eligible, no way we could beat Kansas St, no way Bennett is coming back! What I have to say to those people is this. There was no way we could ever have a Heisman winner, no way we could ever win 10 games, and no way we could ever have a 200 million dollar new on campus stadium. But guess what....WE DO! Why? In the words of one very smart man, "the hotter the heat, the harder the steel. No pressure, no diamonds. We compete, we win. We are Baylor. Baylor we are, Baylor we'll always be!"
